Help!!

In an effort to assist you with your research on the truth about living in Mexico, I’ve been spying on other websites that claim to have all the answers. Some are actually informative and try their best to be partial.

But I have also found that the majority talk about silly facts that in my mind are just trying to mock Mexico. I am going to list some facts from websites that are in the top of Google and Yahoo when one searches for “Living in Mexico”.

1. YOU CAN BUY TAMPONS IN MEXICO

Seriously, in what world do we live in that Google and Yahoo rank this type of so-called fact? Living in Mexico will not take you back to living in prehistoric times.

2. MEXICANS ARE (MOSTLY) FRIENDLY + HELPFUL

3. …BUT INCAPABLE OF SAYING NO

Like every place in the world, you will encounter polite and most of the time rude individuals while living in Mexico City.

4. GOOD LUCK FINDING BLUTACK

One good thing about globalization. You can find substitutes that will solve your problem.

5. BUSES + BABY SHOES GO HAND IN HAND

Dude. I have no comment on this one.

6. BULK BUYING IS FAR EASIER + SUPER COMMON

Most people in Mexico do not own cars, so how is this common?

7. SIMILAR STORES CLUSTER TOGETHER

I want to believe that she was talking about Mercados in Mexico.

8. BUSES FOLLOW NO RULES

There are rules here that you need to follow. However, cops don’t really do their job in all of Mexico and enforcement is hard to come by.

9. ANTIBIOTICS ARE GIVEN OUT LIKE SWEETS

You need a prescription. The pharmacy keeps it when you fill your prescription and you will need one every time you buy antibiotics.

10. GPS DON’T EXIST; INSTEAD, GO TO THE PHARMACY

Pharmacies offer medical services because most General Doctors in Mexico cost more than the daily minimum wage of $100 pesos a day. There are plenty of General Doctors that start at $500 pesos per visit.

11. YOU WILL LIKELY BE THE CENTER OF ATTENTION

Not because of your looks, but most likely because you are acting like a privileged fool!!

12. MANY BOTTLES IN MEXICO ARE RETORNABLES

It helps the environment and lowers costs for everyone. However, plastic is also available.

13. YOU CAN’T FLUSH YOUR TOILET PAPER

You can and you should. Restaurants and public restrooms have signs that instruct you to flush toilet paper down the toilet.

14. NO PICA IS A STRAIGHT-UP LIE

It is called hot sauce, not ask if it is hot. Duh!!

15. MOVING METRO MAKEUP APPLICATION IS IMPRESSIVE

People run late and have to get creative to get ready for work. At least they are not driving while doing their makeup.

16. SEAT BELTS ARE (KIND OF) OPTIONAL

If you want to die. Driving in Mexico City is crazy.

17. YOU’LL BE LUCKY IF YOUR POST ARRIVES

You probably forgot to fill the address completely. You need the street name, Colonia, Alcaldia and zip code. It is low in cost compared to other services, but you will have to take into account that deliveries take a bit longer.

18. GREAT PLACE TO LEARN SPANISH

I don’t think this is a good idea. You should speak the language and know basic facts about life in Mexico City if you are planning on moving here. Living in Mexico City as a foreigner is synonymous with being hustled, even by the street vendor.
